It sounds like we are in fairly close agreement on most issues, with some debate about some details.
If our current adhoc/volunteer storage is working, we do not need "to fix this".
If we are mostly agreed that the loaner program is for 1) new members to try out a new scope for "awhile" and 2) current members to try out another scope for "awhile"
then this is the essence of the program. It is worthwhile having several types of "beginner scopes" and it is worth while having a few "intermediate" or "specialty" scopes. Define these as we may.
I think a "library model" in which the borrower promises/ or is obliged to return the scope after "x" time is a good idea, probably similar but more formalized than what we have now.
I am not sure I can be there Tuesday night. My schedule will be probably long on Tuesday and I will be out of town for the remainder of the week., but I would like to be part of the conversation.
