The email I sent on Wednesday stated

We have a very full agenda for Saturday.  Some of the issues are likely
going to require much discussion based on some of the emails I have
received.

Please plan to be at Houge at 6:15 PM.  We will start as soon as we have a
quorum.

The current bylaws permit a member to have an excused absence merely by
notifying the board they will not be there. They need take no further
action. He can also designate a proxy as a means of participating.  

The bylaws permit him three consecutive absences before the board is
required to act.  As long as he remembers in the future there will not be a
problem.
