Rob,
 
  thanks for your reports and work.  I agree that your
earlier posting - and the effect of 'culling' the defective
large scopes is a definite improvement in inventory control.
 
The "Thoughts on requirements for scopes larger than
10" "  is fairly succinct.    About the only other  comments
on this class of scope - I would call these 'Intermediate".  I
do not think they are really beginner scopes.  Mark also made
an interesting and I think valid comment - a few "plop and view"
scopes, that don't need truss assembly - are useful.  If a
person has a large SUV or a truck - they may really prefer a
solid tube to a truss.  
 
It might be useful for analysis to mark scopes  B for beginner
or I for Intermediate to identify usage and request trends.
