   To have a temporary scope when one is refinishing her own.

   To have something to use while waiting for delivery of one's 
on-order scope.

   To have a smaller travel scope when my 8-inch was too big.

   To have a second scope when a house guest was not able to bring his 
own.

All of these have happened, three of hem to me.
