[SJAAboard] Thoughts on requirements for scopes larger than 10"

Here are 3 for me.
(1) I borrowed a telescope from SJAA when I came out here initially because I was living in a corporate apartment and hadn't gone back yet to get a scope.
(2) I borrowed the 18" out of novelty, and have no interest in purchasing anything like it, though (3) it has given me some ideas for ATM'ing (both positive and negative) something of that size.
I'm not saying that I am "normal" by any means, but there may be other reasons people get scopes than just prepurchase eval, and for this reason I would not hold tight to the strict criteria that every single telescope in the program must be a mass-market available for purchase scope. I think we can have a little bit of diversity in there, like maybe 10% of the scopes should not be required to be "mainstream."

The other purposes are.... ????
Again, I think defining the purpose is key to determining what is in the stable.
