Subject: SJAA Volunteer Opportunity: Astronomy Event in the Bay Area Science
Olympiad!

 

Greetings SJAA!

 

The Bay Area Regional Science Olympiad 2008 is seeking volunteers!  We are
especially in need of a volunteer to be the Event Supervisor for the
Astronomy event.  This would involve writing problems and questions in
astronomy (following rules and guidelines provided) and administering and
scoring the event on tournament day.  The tournament will be held on
Saturday, April 5, 2008, in San Jose.  The Astronomy event is 50 minutes
long.  We are also in need of Event Assistants as well.

 

The Science Olympiad is an exciting competition that consists of 23
different team events for which high school students prepare throughout the
year. These events are balanced between the various science disciplines.
Over 200 students from across the Bay Area are expected to participate in
this year's regional tournament.  

 

Volunteering is fun and rewarding; plus, it's a great opportunity to
encourage budding astronomers!  Please circulate this information to your
members.  Interested volunteers should contact me as soon as possible.
