[SJAAboard] Ephemeris request for member letters on hold

Mark strenuously objected to my sending the letters today. I was responding to
an action item from the May board meeting. The final version of the letter does
not criticize PRN. Instead, it says "we are here, we care about Houge, and we
will cooperate".

I was planning to take a second step and publish an Ephemeris article asking
individual members to contact their council members and say the same thing. Out
of respect for Mark, I will delay.

We do not know the schedule for the RFP process so we do not know if the delay
will make these letters timely, too late, or premature. This process has been
going on since at least 2005. Political pressure has already stopped outright
closings and has removed several sites from the reuse list. Mike had a good
relationship with the then council member that helped in the early stages of
this process. He was termed out. We should have taken steps to improve our
visibility with the present council members and new mayor long ago.

I will respect Mark's objection and let the board decide if any next steps are
appropriate.
