Rob,
 Things I would consider adding would be to mention our membership (>250) 
and that attendance at the lecture series is >50. & possibly that we also 
offer >50 free star parties at local schools, and our members volunteer in 
local schools. All of this adds to the validity of our community involvement 
and educational value.
Lets get the letter off to the SJC council and major as is or with minor 
revisions.
