[SJAAboard] Did our speaker show last night?

Hi, guys.

Thank you for your kind words.

It is my normal SOP to check in with the speaker during the week before the meeting.  Once in 2005, it turned out that the speaker had forgotten, but was able to come.  Other than that, there hadn't been a hint of such a problem until now (aside from illnesses which were conveyed to me).  When I realized that I had neglected to check in with the speaker, but only had her work email and couldn't contact her, I was holding my breath that another 3-year event wouldn't strike, but it did.  That's why I have felt so sick about it, the thought that I might have been able to prevent it.

Dr. Gates will speak to us at either the October or November meeting.  The existing November speaker can't guarantee the date, so I will have him delay.  I have been toying with the idea of asking the existing October speaker to slide back to November, but I wonder if that might give offense.  So, I'm going to sleep on it.  Probably November, then.
