I am less focused on the absolute easiest setup and more focused on what can be
successfully done every time by someone that is not familiar with the scope.
Zeiders is an excellent Mechanical Engineer and it shows in the design of the
scope
a) The scope disassembles so you can easily lift all of the pieces.
b) The mirror is removed from the bottom instead of setting it into the
mirror box (as the 14" required). Removing the mirror dramatically cuts the
weight of the mirror box (which is why I don't own an 18").
c) The mirror cover is directly on the mirror thus protecting it when
the mirror is removed.
d) The trusses are preformed triangles that stay rigid while you are
attaching the secondary. In this case, it is far easier to use than the
LightBridge.
e) The pieces fit together for a small storage and transport footprint.
It occupies about 1/2 of my car. Michelle's 18" was going to be too tall.
An Obsession, StarMaster, or even a Highe scope may indeed be lighter as
assembled and quicker for an experienced person to assemble. The Zeider scope
is well suited as a loaner.
