Hi fellow stargazers,
?????? The refractor in the trombone case has the standard GEM from ORION which has been upgraded with slow motion motors on both axes- in addition to the standard clockdrive.? This telescope and mount are in nice condition.? It is the Zeiders big binoculars that need some repair and/or modification.? Steve Nelson has shown an interest in borrowing the refractor, and Phil Chambers has offered to try to fix the tripod for the?big Zeiders binoculars.? I will bring all these goodies to the Sat. meeting.
????????? Lee

Subject: [SJAAboard] Loaner Report for June 08
Here is the loaner report for June 08
http://www.sjaa.net/loaners/reports/08-06-17.htm
The LightBridge is the single most requested scope in the loaner program. It is
currently committed until December and is waitlisted. This year three members
will have used it. A fourth was interested.
I sorted this time to highlight those scopes that have not turned in the last
year. I also added a column to compare this list against my Working Draft 2 for
further changes I recommend in the loaner program.

Note that the refractor Lee discussed in an earlier message is not on this list.
I believe this is an opportunity to add another credible beginner scope. Unless
the mount is a relatively sturdy mount and can be easily fixed I prefer we just
dump the mount and buy a new one. I suggest Lee bring the mount Saturday.
We should consider pulling in some of the long outstanding loans. If we can get
volunteers I would like to pull in #23 (6" f/8 on Equatorial), #34 8" Dynamax
S/C, and #32 5.5" Signature Dob. These are all scopes on my hit list and their
loans expired greater than 4 years ago. We should consider selling these now.
I would also like to pull in the 10" Earletron since I do not have any good
information on this scope. I may have someone interested in this scope, but it
is early in the process. Again I need storage after I have had a chance to look
at it.
