This might also be usefull for planetary CCD imaging - I had a hard  time 
using the 8" Meade GEM
because it did not have any Dec slow motion.  I'd like to figure out  (by 
trying) if this scope (or any
loaner!) can be used for more modern imaging.  Paul and I had about  18? at 
the beginners class
and about half? were members.  It would be nice if we could recommend  a 
couple of Loaners
as scopes that we had 'actually used' for CCD imaging.  
 
One hundred dollars can get someone a resonable Web Cam style  planetary 
imager - but the
optics/mount that is needed for this type of astronomy is more expensive  
(but I think within the
range the loaner program).
