Subject: Resignation
I have had it up to here and this is my resignation from the
Board. I am discouraged that it has to come to this.
Because of an aversion to clubs/etc due to my dislike of office/club
politics, I have never been a "joiner". I thought maybe this would
be different as it was an opportunity to assist a hobby that I am
involved in. No small part of that is the quality of the individuals
who participate. But no, it is just more of the same old politics,
infighting and all those attributes that I find tedious.
Do -not- take this as committing to one side or the other in the
ongoing "cat fight". I think pretty highly of both individuals and
do not wish to be caught in the middle. I will note that both seem
to have backed themselves into their respective corners and doubt that
any good will come of this situation. This is very unfortunate for
the local hobby in many, some not so obvious, ways.
There is a opportunity to compromise and do some future planning on
that basis but it is rapidly being lost as it would take backing off
on both individuals part and some non ego driven discussions between
them.
I especially do not like having to do resign when it seems that
critical negotiations with the city are imminent. However, as I
reflected on this, I noted that I do not have the history with SJAA
and overall knowledge of club activities and doings to make any
significant contribution to this particular problem.
I do not need the drama and trauma of the ongoing situation and I wish
to be removed from the board list ASAP and from any distribution lists
concerning the "cat fight".
I do not intend to forego participation in local events and hope to
continue to be available to help with repairing/tuning of loaner
scopes but only as an individual volunteer.
