[SJAAboard] Proposal for Bulk Mailing to Houge Neighborhood

This proposal was buried in another email.  I would like to the members to think
about this so we can discuss it on the 19th.

I propose to build a "Neighbors of Houge Park" mail list of the residences
within about a mile of Houge Park (roughly as far as Jim's house).  Since I
don't know where to buy such a list I will have to construct it manually with
maps. I will then use the list cleanup service to throw out any bad addresses
and get zip+4.

What we would mail would be a single folded page that introduced ourselves to
the neighborhood and gave our schedule at least through the end of the year.
The goal is to draw more local residents to our star parties (and hence to raise
the number of San Jose residents).

My guess is that this would run between $100 and $200, but I really do not know
how many residences there are.

This is not time critical.  I don't have time to work on it until August.  It
will take me a couple of weeks to generate the mail list.  I can probably print
the addresses directly on the page so there will be no need for a label party.
