[SJAAboard] Cave telescope is a NO-GO

Hi all,
???? While I was in Berkeley this weekend I called the phone number of the person with the Cave 10" telescope.? The number turned out to be the friend of the donor.? Apparently the donor was going to donate the telescope because the area where it was stored had a roof leak and the owner intended to donate it because he was afraid it would suffer damage.? I was told a roofer promised to fix the roof right away.? Hearing this the owner decided to keep the telescope.? Anyway it didn't happen.

Albert and I exchanged some email this morning. We are in sync with regards
to what he is doing.  He will send the mirror to be tested (at my expense).
Per the vote in at the December meeting if the mirror is worse than 1/4 wave
then the board will spend up to $500 to refigure it.

I believe existing votes give you permission to discard the carcass.  

The only storage we have is what members provide. We probably should have
tried to sell the parts during the swap.  The next opportunity would be the
auction.  I don't personally object to your selling them via astromart or
using the local maillists.
