I have an LX200 and an SBIG camera so I could help there. I have an
observatory but it isn't remote-controlled nor is by Sirius so I'm not much
help there. Perhaps we could find out more about just what help they need.
I'm betting that someone in the club has experience with remote-control
observatories. If not, we know some non-SJAA people that do.

Since I have never designed an observatory I do not feel I am a good choice
for this. Is anyone else interested?
I deleted the contact info since you should never post phone numbers on a
public permanent mail list.

Subject: to Rob Howly: an architect looking for assistance with setting up
an observatory.
Dear Rob,
My name is Mark Bartos. Our firm recently designed an observatory for a high
school in san jose.
The observatory is meant to be robotically controlled.
The dome is by Sirius observatories. We have a Meade LX 200 scope and SBIG
ccd cameras.
It's all hooked up to a computer with all of the needed software.
We were working with a consultant that assisted us with installation, but
the installation isn't complete yet.
I'm not an expert with ccd / computers / scopes, etc..
SO..i'm wondering if you or anyone in your group would be interested in
providing some consulting services to complete the installation of this
scope, dome, etc.
If you are interested or if you can recommend someone, please call me at:
The installation was a real exciting thing for the district - but it hasn't
quite yet made it in to full use by students/ teachers.
I'm hoping also that we might be able to set up some sort of arrangement
between the SJAA and the School/district for some sort of mentoring/club/use
of the facility.
Thanks for reading this far !
Sincerely,
Mark Bartos, Architect
