There are a number of impediments to using either Oak Meadow Park or Vasona Lake Park.
1. Both are behind locked gates at night.
2. Access to the large open lawn area at Oak Meadow is difficult other than by foot.
3. Both places are in the low point of the local geography, as the creek runs through them,
meaning, both may be subject to significant dewing.
There is a back entrance to Vasona on the University Avenue side, which is also locked, but it
does lead to the boat/marina area, and its parking lot. The lot may have some significantly tall
trees around it though, at least that's what I recall. At Vasona, the best location for star
parties would be in the parking lot running along the east side of the lake.
Vasona does have a science center, I believe the entrance may be off Lark Avenue. It may be worth
looking into for meetings/events, but again, I believe it too is behind a locked gate at night.
