I bet that (admittedly irritable) attitude prevents people from wanting to engage you.  I sure
wouldn't bother - this is supposed to be enjoyable.

Dr. Armstrong, thank you for your help at the auction - I don't think anyone's purchases were
misplaced or stolen, unless there has been a complaint we don't know about.  And I enjoyed your
very generous donation of the coffee and bagels.  Your efforts (and cool head) are appreciated.
