[SJAAboard] Extra time reserved for the auction

For perspective, here are a few facts...

Late December we paid the City $300 for using Houge--just for the
auction alone. Rob just signed us up for two more hours, bringing
the total to $394. (not to mention the paperwork Rob had to do.)
I don't know if that includes the additional filing fee or not.

When we reserve Houge, they charge us a $30 filing fee plus a $50
deposit. Fortunately, we can list several dates on one form, and
apparently Rob is now able to get a year's worth on it. However,
if we make any changes, which we usually do, there's an additional
filing fee each time.

Most of the money we make from the auction comes from selling club
owned stuff (including donated items). If there is none of that,
we're limited to about ten percent of the total sales. If there
are no big ticket items and no club owned items, we could only
make $100 or $200. Fortunately that would be unusual, but still
possible. The usual case is that we'll make more than enough to
cover the City fee, but not THAT much more, it's not like we'll
rake in many thousands or anything.

Here's some perspective: If we have a good auction, say our net
is $1200, the City will take a third of that.

It seems to me the City shouldn't charge more than we do--ten
percent. But their fee is based on the number of hours, not
on what we actually make.
