Hi, All,
I've built a proposed calendar for 2009. Rather than e-mailing it,
here's a pointer<http://www.sjaa.net/school/year2009.htm#tab> to it.
Since the moon's average orbit differs from the average month, the
date of full moon and our meeting date slowly migrate to earlier
dates. After about 3 years, we must jump to the end of the month.
That happens in October, so the October 3 meeting is followed by the
November 28 meeting.
We probably should not step on Halloween, or we could put in an
extra meeting on Oct.31.
The April full moon is on Thursday Apr.9, and the meeting could be
either side of that. I chose the earlier one, so Auction XXVIII comes
on April 5. The other date would be the 12th, which is Easter. We
should avoid the conflict. That weekend is also the final one before
Tax Day on Apr.15, so we really don't want the auction on that weekend.
I picked some dates for the Beginners class, but Rob has the say on
those.
I've probably overlooked some holidays, so check for that.
When checking moonrise or set times, be careful to choose the
correct date. For instance, if the moon is approaching first quarter,
the relevant set date may be the date *after* the star party. This
same applies to a rising 3rd-quarter moon.
Clear Skies (and calendars!)
