I participated in an AANC meeting last week to finish plans and yesterday
I went up and helped setup and usher attendees. The College of San Mateo
has an excellent close relationship with the local astronomy club. This
is particularly evident in the cooperative use of the new collage
observatory.
Some members help technically, so get benefit from also using the
faclity and instruments they help support.
PAS has a more distant relationship with Foothill. The new Foothill
facilities are updated from the original - but total maybe 1/10 of
the investment at CSM. Evergreen Valley College is somewhere
in-between in facilities.
At least three clubs have a 'one page' handout including an application
and a summary of the club's programs. Do we have such a page?
[gee if we do sorry I missed it and didn't take any handouts up]

All-
Well, you did it! By all accounts the CON was a success, thanks to your
contributions, and the excellent weather.
Our community outreach was successful, with good attendance by both
amateurs and members of the public. The official attendance reported to
CSM was 500 people. Each of the shows were well filled, and the CSM
president found an overflow crowd in the planetarium for his welcoming
comments before the Black Holes movie. Alan Gould remarked that this was
the most successful CON that he has seen in a number of years.
We flexibly adapted to major last-minute changes in the program when the
Real Sky Show was cancelled. Not only that, all of the events occurred on
schedule, and we had no critical technical glitches (despite some close
calls).
As we all know, this success was not accidental; it was the result of
months of careful planning and many hours of hard work on your part. You
can be proud of the result of your efforts.
Thanks,
Doug
