[SJAAboard] maintenance fund for Loaner Program ($250 a quarter? or)

Hi,

in the past there were various funding arrangements for the
maintenance of loaner equipment that assured there would
be a reasonable amount for out-of-pocket expenses. These
amounts would be pre-approved by the board and just
spent as necessary by Mike K (as the loaner guy). There
is an email in the archives explaining how money from
Auction (or was it Swap?) was earmarked for this - but
regardless of the details pre-1990 - a reasonable amount was
avaliable to spend as needed.

This is consistent with giving more day-to-day operational
responsibility to committees.

Could someone on the Board who thinks this is again
a good idea propose a motion at the next meeting? I
have heard $250 as a reasonable 'pot size.' It could be
refilled as necessary / rather than yearly.

Note that this is distinct from a 'major purchase' and distinct
from an authorization for a 'storage rental'.

Steven

PS. got first Mars CCD images form Loaner #35 a couple
of nights ago.
