The fork mounted SCT needs to have two axis motors to handle the tracking.
The motors are pretty much a requirement. It is a small step from there to
GOTO. Every one that I know of has a DSC built in also.
An SCT mounted on a GEM or on the wedge thingy can get by with just an RA
motor. In the former case you could run it completely manual (which would
be fine with me).
My issue is that I do not want to fight the motor. In most scopes if you
install a motor you give up manual control on that axis. If you are required
to use the motor then it would make the scope more useable if it helped you
by having a fast two directional slew.
