If you can make fine adjustments manually then I fully agree with you.
Most motored scopes do not have a clutch. You have to choose between
slewing with the motors or releasing the lock and moving manually. The
latter is a very difficult way to make fine adjustments. In GEMs I prefer to
leave the manual adjust knobs on the DEC and just let the motors handle the
RA.
I am not a big fan of full GOTO in anything except a fork mounted SCT.
There the two axis motors are pretty much a requirement. In every other
case GOTO adds complexity and cost. An example of this was the Meade
Digital Scope where everything was built cheaply with low quality.
