Treasurer Report
Balances look good. We will making an expenditure of about $1500 to get the RASC books for the swap meet coming up. The club doesn’t have an obligation from the City to spend any funds by end of calendar 2011; we met the spending requirements already to cover the revenues we got onsite. Next outlay will need to be before June 2012.
General Meeting Programs
We had a cancel for the Feb 2012 meeting. We have speakers and other programs through March 2012 except for February. Rob is working on a lead for the Feb meeting. Telescope makers had something come up, so they have a conflict for Nov 2011. We may possibly want to ask Julien Lecomte and swap Nov and Dec. Mark will handle it. Mark will also contact Rogelio about presenting at a General Meeting.
Loaner Program Report
Report presented by Lee. Over half of the new scopes are over due. Two of the older scopes have been marked ‘unreturned’.
Membership Report
Membership increased by two. All new, renewing members were approved unanimously.
School Star Parties Report
SSP’s are going well.
Publicity Report
Art and Wine Festival was well received and had a great response to the call for volunteers. The Open Space Authority partnering continues well. We have a Twitter presence which has an increase in following. The club Blog is available for those who may want to post anything.
======
Coverage for upcoming activities
Gary will be opening and closing for the next several Houge nights; Mark presented the upcoming coverage. Nov 5, we need to get a call out for more scopes since we don’t normally do Saturday night Houge star parties.
====
Old Business
Reports for CSJ: We will continue to poll the attendees of indoor activities to see how many people are SJ residents. This should satisfy the City requirements for activities reporting. Robert notes that the City accepted the two year financial report that Robert assembled and submitted.
Loaner scope divestiture: Mark has a list of scopes that Lee originally suggested we divest at the swap. Lee and Rich and Mark will put prices on them to make them available at the swap.
====
New Items:
Attendance: Reviewed the attendance for the year; by laws say that three consecutive unexcused absences and you are off the board.
Nov 5: Put out a call for the Nov 5 for scopes.
Elections coming up: All who are running must be nominated. We need a nominating committee. Mark will be on the committee, along with Rich and Lee.
Ranger Cameron Bowers at Coe: We’d like to know whether the event that was mentioned is an SJAA event or not. This would be at the Dowdy Ranch,
south entrance. Mark to contact Bowers.
Swap Meet: Advertise the fall swap and the scopes that will be available from the SJAA.
Solar Scope Acquisition: Mark makes a motion to acquire new h-Alpha solar equipment, have a second, all are in favor. Rich will look into what’s available, research the specs, what we should expect to see with available models, etc and come back next month with a report.
Divesting the DayStar Solar Scope. Until we get a real solar scope, we should keep it.
SkyTools: We are tracking to have 17 orders, which don’t give us the full discount. Mark makes a motion to that the club picks up any number of order to get the 25. Unanimously
passes.
Green Laser: Mark makes a mtion to purchase an inexpensive green laser. Unanimously passes.
The Great Courses:
Mark makes a motion to purchase the set for the Hubble. Unanimously passes.
Audio System: Kevin will follow up with a recommendation. Mark makes a motion to purchase of a sound system under $250. Unanimously passes. Kevin will make it happen.
Adjoun 7:55PM.
