Hello AANC members,

Nick Kanas has a new book out entitled "Star Maps: History, Artistry, and
Cartography"
Dr. Nick has given talks on the subject of mapping the heavens to several of
our Bay Area
amateur astronomy groups, and in fact, amateur astronomers are a major
population he had
in mind in writing this book.
Here's the flyer:
http://www.planitarium.net/aanc/celestial-book-flyer-1.pdf
It can be purchased thru Amazon as well.

This Saturday is the SFAA City Star Party at Lands End to be punctuated by
"Lights Out
SF!" is getting lots of press.

You may want to spread it to your club's astro community as well. It's a
great idea.
Let your local news know about your star parties and if there is a
noticeable difference
with the one hour.

We'd like to see a good turnout for that event. Here's your chance to see
the Milky Way
in San Francisco between 8 and 9 pm!
See if you can spot the Andromeda Galaxy naked eye. It looked great on Mt.
Tam this past
Saturday evening.

Also some Sidewalk Astronomers will be at Dolores Park. You may want to
join in:

Any visual magnitude studies as a result of this event please let Alan Gould
<adgould at comcast.net> and myself know
Kenneth Frank <kennethfrank at planitarium.net>

Thanks,

Ken
